Mykonos night life is hardcore

Day #22 - Mykonos
We started off the day with a very underwhelming trip to the island of Delos, aparently the birthplace of the god Apollo.

The island is a city of ancient greek ruins ...i was expecting the kind of stuff i saw at Ephiseus, but instead all i saw was a bunch of rubble. Poorly maintained rubble.

The most famous statue they have, or the general symbol of delos are these faceless lions. Since we were pretty much left to our own accord by my tour "leader", i have no idea of any history or background to this city.

I have no idea what this thing is...

After a disapointing trip to delos, we headed back to Mykonos to find a beach. We went to the middle of town to the twxi stand...but after waiting for ffteen mins with no luck, we walked to the bus stop for beach pick ups. Lucky for us, we managed to hail a cab there to oros beach.

We managed to find out from our friends who have been there since morning that the two beach chairs at the front had towels on them had not had ppl sitting in them for the whole day. So priya and i took their towels, folded them nicely and claimed our new beach beds.

At Syros two days before, if you order a drink at the beach, you didnt have to pay for the bed. Here however, in addition to thr 7.50 EUR sandwich and 3.50 EUR iced tea i got, i also had to pay 6EUR for the beach chair. Sigh. You know its touristy when.....

The water was glorious tho. The sun definitely warmed it up, so the water temp was no colder than refreshing. I didnt go in quite so deep but i heard there were fishies eating ppl's feet.

The water was just crystal blue, unlike any other ive seen...

Another thing about Mykonos, is that in addition to being known as the party island of europe, it is also the gay island of europe. There were a ton of gay people all around. It was sometimes hard to tell if people were gay or they just know how to dress.

At around four thirty, we decided it was about time to head back to get redy for the sunset and dinner. After paying six eur for the beach chair, i was a bit hesitant to leave :(

We went back to our nice hotel for a cool shower and to get ready for our big night ahead. We all put on our best outfits (feel like forever since i didnt look like a bum) for our night out in mykonos.

First, we set out back to the windmills to watch the sunset again, this day was a but cloudy but made for a great picture.

I didnt have my nice camera with me since we were going out...so no good qualiy sunset pics here unfortunately.

Windmills were still nice and crowded tho.

Dinner was at a seafood restaurant tonight. I think had the prices were in dollars instead of euros, i would think it was a tad expensive.(ie. If it was 10 eur and 10 $) But since they are in euros, its ridculous expensive. But anyway, i got my piece of grilled fresh octopus. Something that i have never tried before. It was slightly crispy on the outside from the char grill, but on the inside, it was cooked to steaming perfection.

And a meal of seafood is just not complete without a fresh plate of fried calamari, also very delicious.

Pics are a bit blurry...thata what happens when u use a shitty cam.

I was stuffed full of fresh seafood...and ready to party (slightly sleepy though...so i got a vodka red bull... everyone who knows me knows i like light on the alchohol...but this guy....half the glass was vodka, and only a bit of redbull. Groooosssss. Lol. He noticed me nursing my drink after a while so he added more redbull and ice. Im weaksauce.) in the pic from left to right...priya (roomate), linda, christinr (tour leader), me and cynthia.

And then came my meeting with george. At first it was just regular bar banter, but then when he found out i was from Toronto, he got super excited because in a months time he's heading to toronto to reunite with his beloved canadian gf. Suchhhhhhh a romantic love story :) he showed me pics, shes a hottie! The bar looks much better in the dark btw...the flash on this cam is intense.

The owner and his bartenders were great. Super sweet guys annnnnd the owner gave me a skandinavian bar shirt. If anyone goes ot mykonos? You must head here and to the disco upstairs!

The rest of the night was spent dancing in the upstairs disco. One minute it was empty, the next you were rubbing shoulders with EVERYONE. There are a lot of gay people at the discos...and that night i had a lot of trouble telling them apart. Lol. I danced til about three-ish in the morning and trekked home in my heals. The roads were surprisingly quite safe with ton of people walking home at the same time. Anyway, super fun night out! Coming up, my morning date!
