Pampered by Turkish Airlines

Day #30 and 31 - Transit from Europe to Asia

Before my post, i just wanna say thanks for you guys leaving me comments! Makes me feel loved. I read them daily! (when i have internet) xoxo! Anywho...

The beginning of my long transit day starts off with a sunset in athens at take off...

Turkish airlines has the most amazing business class lounge i have ever been to. (thank goodness for airline points, makes the long haul flights so much more bearable :)) The business class lounges at yyz and jfk were very disapointing, but at IST? Spectacular. Firstly, when i was getting in line (the business class line) to get through passport control, i was told by the turkish airline employee that there was anoooother business class line that lead directly to the business class lounge. I was escorted over and got through passport control in seconds.

When i walked in, i was in awe. The lounge was masssssive. There were several areas...

Including a restaraunt..

A mac computer area..

A coffee area...

Several lounging areas..

Sports on nine tvs area...

Eating area...

Beautifully decored area..

Pool table and library area...

Alcohol area..

Piano playing area...

Salad area...

In terms of decor and facilities, this lounge was close to being on par wit the first class terminal in frankfurt, but it had many more people. This place was a great place to spend my very short stop over in istanbul. I lovve lounges.

Even though this was a transcontinental flight, we still were carted out to the airplane and were loaded onto the plane from the outside.

Ghetto.

Turkish airlines had a large selection of movies to watch...lucky for me...since there are a lot of movies i havent seen yet. I started to watch black swan, but that movie was too dark for me. Then i realzied they had my ALL TIME FAVOURITE LOVE STORY ..."Ever After"... a feel-good movie :) i watched that as i ate my two hour meal...

The meal was delicious and once again, i ate way more than my body could handle. First course, the app - seafood meze of smoked salmon, shrimp and spring mix.

Second, the staple turkish soup - lentil soup. Yum. Gotta learn how to make this when i get home.

My main? Lamb shish with grilled tomato. How do they grill stuff on a plane? I assume magic. Possibly one of the best lamb shishes i had in turkey!

There were a few more items like dessert and cheese, but i just couldn't bring myself to have any, so i had fruit instead.

After a great meal, i went to bed. These seats arent quite as good as air canada's or cathy's business class, but i still got somewhat of a bed so thats still good.

Around nine ish hours later, we landed in bangkok. Pretty cool, we got to see the landing on the screen. I would like to point out that in business class or first class, no one tells you turn off electronics. Ever.

Arrival in bangkok!

Do you know what that means?? It means two things.
1) Eating food with chop sticks again!
2) coleman!

We met up at the gate on our way to chiang mai. Yayyyy someone to hold my camera :)

Next post? The beginning of leg #3, Chaing Mai, Thailand

Location:ATH - IST - BKK - CNX
