I just had the most amazing morning of my trip. Even though our group was out til three thirty (give or take) in the morning, I still managed to get up at nine to pack and have breakfast.
If you read my post from the day before, i met a super nice guy, George at the Skandinavian Bar. He was very friendly towards me because i live in the same city (and actually quite close to) his girlfriend in Toronto. In the morning he came by to pick me up in his ducati (drool) so i didnt have to walk down the massive hill. What made his gesture after even nicer was he had only gone to bed two hours before..aparently people in Mykonos don't stop partying til 8 in the morning :S
I think having my first time on a motorcycle in greece, particlarly a ducati, was amazing. He gave me a mini bike tour around Mykonos to see the coastal area and we ended up at a cafe in little venice facing the water, drinking iced coffee and tea. If anyone has ever been to little venice, you know that the cafes are super comfortable with couches and pillows. It was a great way to spend the morning in Mykonos before i said goodbye to the beautiful island. We spent the morning talking about the fairy tale love story of him and his gf (sooooo sweet and the most romantic story ever) about life, about chasing dreams...he's inspired me.
Most of the guys partying in Mykonos are only after one thing from women, but George was a genuinely sweet guy being nice to a stranger. Its nice to know there are still kind selfless people out there! I wish him and stephanie alllll the best in the future. :)
Unfortunately, we had to leave the awesome island of Mykonos to head to Santorini. We took the flying at 4 over to our next island, taking about two and a half hrs, actually about three because the damn thing was late.
This next pic is one of my roomate and i - she is aweeeeeesome fun - i prob would have went back to the hotel last night at 9 if it wasnt for her. Hah
After arrive in Santorini (Thira), we checked into our basic hotel and headed to watch the sunset...again.
The place for the sunset view also gave a great view of the town...
In the middle of the shopping area, donkies would randomly pass by..all twenty of them. Aparently, similar to the pelecan being a symbol for mykonos, the donkey is the symbol for santorini.
I skipped lunch today so opted for a large (too large) dinner...sharing two aps and two mains with priya. Up first, fried calamari yum
Then grilled octopus, yum (not quite as good as yesterday)
Next was grilled sardines (aka in chinese, daw chun yue)
Then finally, seafood pasta. Aand the sauce wasnt just tomatoe with seafood, there was actually seafood infused in it. Yum
Today was another transit day, but it was wonderful. Amazing people and amazing food. It was a happy day :)
